What is Hypnosis?
*a gentle form of relaxation and visualization
*a place where the body/mind system is relaxed
*
All hypnosis is self hypnosis
*is a natural state of mind

Before we get into Hypnosis for birth...
let's dispell some Hollywood Myths;  explaining..
.

What Hypnosis is NOT...

*It is not mind control
*You will not lose your reality
...You are ALWAYS in the driver's seat
*It is not a place where you would
quack like a duck or act like Madonna
*You will not be in a place where
you would expose your most hidden secrets

In fact you enter a Hypnotic state many times during the day:  think of the last time you drove your car somewhere and don't remember portions of your journey, when you read and/or when you practice meditation or visualization.

HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method.

The concept of HypnoBirthing® is a "rebirth" of the philosophy recaptured from the work of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, an English obstetrician, who introduced the concept of natural birthing in the 1920s. The method teaches you that in the absence of fear and tension, severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labor.

In the classes you and your birth companion will gain an understanding of how the birthing muscles work in perfect harmony --as they were naturally designed to-- when your body is relaxed. You will learn how to achieve relaxation, free of fear, and how to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birthing.

When you have your baby with HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance or a sleep. You will be conversant and in good spirits--totally relaxed, but fully in control. Awake throughout, you will be aware of your body's surges (contractions); but because you have trained yourself to reach complete relaxation, you will be able to determine the degree to which you will feel the surges.

You will experience birthing full of relaxation, free of the fear and tension which prevents the muscles of your body from functioning as nature intended. In this calm state your body's natural anesthesia, endorphins, replaces the stress hormones that constrict and cause pain.
